The Far West of Cornwall is very self contained and there is much to see and do in the area.

Westwards from Morvah is an area of previous mining activity as can be seen by the picturesque ruins of the old engine houses and the visitor attractions of Geevor Mining Museum (where you can go underground) and the Levant Engine House. Beyond this is Cape Cornwall which is a good vantage point from which to view the coastline and also has a golf course. Further along the coast is Sennen Cove, one of the best beaches in Cornwall and good for swimming and surfing.

Lands End is just a short drive from there or can be reached on foot along the coast path. Another very popular and pretty beach is Porthcurno, which is also home to the famous and unique Minack Theatre set on the cliffs.

East of Morvah is the very scenic coastal road to St Ives. This drive will take you through some wonderful, unspoilt coast and moorland scenery. This section of the coastal path is equally glorious. Zennor is the next parish and has a wayside museum, nice church (with a mermaid!) and a pub. St Ives is, of course, a very popular destination but still retains its charm. The harbour area is always bustling and the town has some lovely shops and galleries, including the famous Tate Gallery. There are several good beaches in St Ives, Porthmeor being noted for its surf, and also a new leisure centre.

Directly opposite us and only 6 miles away on the south coast is Penzance. The town is situated on the edge of Mounts Bay which is dominated by the magical castle of St Michaels Mount and may be accessed either by foot or boat according to the tide. There are other National Trust houses and some glorious gardens in the vicinity. Standing Stones and other antiquities are also a feature of this area and the Men-an-Tol, and Lanyon Quoit are just off the Penzance road.

Further afield the Eden Project, Lizard Peninsula, The Lost Gardens of Heligan and Falmouth are all popular day trips. There are, of course, many family attractions for all ages. The Isles of Scilly offer a very exciting and memorable day out and may be reached by sea or helicopter from Penzance or by plane from Lands End airport. Indeed there is something for everyone down here and you may have as busy or as peaceful a holiday as you wish!
